Our Family, The Gemperle Clan, Recieved The Good Egg Award — What a surprise!

Our family was very honored  to receive the Good Egg Award during the 54th annual breakfast gathering at the Doubletree Hotel in Modesto on October 13. Our  philosophy has always encompassed selfless giving, a value instill by my mother and father, Annemarie and Ernie Gemperle. Myself an my six siblings continue our parent’s  legacy of giving back to the community. As a family …… “We learned that if you work hard and you’re successful, you need to share your success with others,” my brother, Stephen Gemperle told the audience of over 300 guests.

Our entire family received the award.  Steve, Peter, Richard, Michael and Heidi Gemperle and  Anita Mahaffey and Susan Abdo. We are all involved in various charities as individuals and through group decisions through Gemperle Family Farms.

My father, Ernie Gemperle, a emigrant from Switzerland, started farming eggs in 1950. He received the a Good Egg Award in 1993.  In 1970, Ronald Reagan, the then – Gov of California received the award. And now us ….. we are truly humbled!

The Good Egg Breakfast in October served hundreds of  omelets and raised scholarship money for Agricultural Students at Modesto Junior College. The breakfast is sponsored by the Pacific Egg and Poultry Association, the California Poultry Federation, the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau and the Modesto Chamber of Commerce.

Scholarships of $850 each were presented to Matt Young, Deena Migliazzo, Makayla Toste, Rebecca Russo, Christopher Galhano and Audriana Farmer — all MJC students.

Supporting education in the central valley is one of our top priorities in our charitable giving.  Education truly changes peoples lives and our family believes that all individuals  deserve this opportunity.
